Conques-Sur-Orbiel: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The Église Saint-Michel was built at the end of the 14th century on the site of an earlier church that had been destroyed by fire in 1355. Its apse was classified as a historic monument by decree of 22 October 1913.

The 16th-century wooden retable in the Église Saint-Michel was classified in 1907. It contains fourteen painted panels depicting the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries of Mary.

The grounds of Notre-Dame de la Gardie include a park with Stations of the Cross and a chapel. Pilgrimages from Conques and the Cabardès used to be celebrated at Notre-Dame de la Gardie on 15 August.

The Saptes industrial site in Conques was used for processing, washing, fulling, dyeing, weaving and finishing wool.

Among the local sights of Conques-sur-Orbiel is a medieval village situated on a hilltop.

Hiking

The Capitelles trail network comprises five hiking trails and offers 18 km of walking routes. From September to June, the Foyer Laïque organises hikes every second Sunday, lasting either half a day or a full day.

“Les capitelles – Le Ruisseau de la garrigue” is a very easy circular hiking trail lasting one hour.

The “Les capitelles – Le Ruisseau de la garrigue” circular trail starts and ends at the Capitelles information point in Conques-sur-Orbiel.

The Circuit des Capitelles circular trail features the picturesque “Siamoises”, adjoining capitelles considered unique in the region.

Access to a restricted area of the Capitelles site is temporarily prohibited following the poisoning of dogs around 14 May 2026.
