Belpech: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
In Belpech, the visible remains of a medieval fortress have been preserved at Le Castelas. It was once surrounded by almost 200 metres of defensive wall. For travellers wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Belpech, choosing accommodation is a separate part of planning the trip.
Culture and History
The Église Saint-Saturnin in Belpech is believed to have been built in 1162; in 1321, it was replaced by a larger church. It has a brick-built bell tower pierced by arcades. The Saint-Sépulcre Chapel is attached to the church choir. This chapel contains a 15th-century tomb.
The history of Cardinal Curti is also connected with Belpech: he was born here and was close to Pope Benedict XII. In 1361, he founded an Hôpital Saint-Jacques in the town to accommodate the sick and pilgrims.
