Hiking and nature

The hiking landscape around Belcaire includes extensive old state forests with firs, beeches, Scots pines, lime trees and ash trees. Lac de Belcaire is a spring-fed lake surrounded by mountains. Supervised swimming is available there in July and August.

The Parcours Pic des Rives offers a panorama from the viewing point, along with an orientation board. There are also around twenty signs along the route to help identify the main forest tree species.

The Salle d'escalade Daniel du Lac combines three disciplines: 80 bouldering blocks, 80 climbing routes and two timed speed routes. At the Salle d'escalade Daniel Dulac in Belcaire, climbing instructors Florian, Manon and Valentin offer supervised or guided climbing, as well as customised courses for individuals, groups and families.

Culture and history

Belcaire was built around an 11th-century castle. The former military castle of Belcaire was set on fire by the Huguenots; today, only ruins remain.

Belcaire Church has a Baroque altarpiece made of polychrome, gilded wood, dating from the end of the reign of Louis XIV. Its crenellated bell tower was built in 1884 and gives the church the appearance of a fortress.
