The Canal du Midi crosses the municipality of Alzonne over a length of 2 km.
Alzonne is one of eight municipalities in the Natura 2000 site “Vallée du Lampy”, a Special Area of Conservation encompassing the catchment areas of the Lampy and the Vernassonne.

Landscape and Nature
The older northern part of Alzonne lies on a hill bordered by the Lampy and the Vernassonne. The presence of the European otter has been confirmed along the Vernassonne.
The Natura 2000 site “Vallée du Lampy” is home to several fish species of Community interest, including Mediterranean barbel, bitterling, toxostome and Planer’s lamprey.
Culture and History
The church of Alzonne was referred to in older writings as “Notre-Dame du Mont-Soleil” and is now dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Its bell tower now contains four bells, two of which are listed in the inventory of Monuments historiques.
The Aqueduc du Rébenty can be seen on the boundary between the municipalities of Alzonne and Bram. It enables the Canal du Midi to cross the Rébenty stream, is 25 m long, has four arches and a total height of 6 m.
Historical remains can be found in Alzonne and discovered while walking through its lanes.
Festivals and Trails
The Fête Locale d’Alzonne includes boules or pétanque, fishing, football, dancing and a ball. Cassoulet is also sampled in the village streets during the Fête Locale d’Alzonne.
The “L’abbaye de Villelongue” hiking route passes through Alzonne.
