Culture and History
Aigues-Vives is home to the Église Saint-Alexandre, built in 1530 under the episcopate of Martin de Saint-André. Its two adjoining towers are remnants of the former castle of the Barony of Capendu; one of them serves as a bell tower. By decree of 5 April 1948, the two towers were partially protected as historic monuments.
The Tour carrée is approximately 15 metres high and has a rectangular footprint measuring 6 by 5 metres. Its construction is probably dated to the 12th century or possibly an earlier period; it is considered the oldest monument in the village. The Castrum of Aigues-Vives is a fortified village dominated by a castle or tower. Its fortified core appears to have developed in the 12th century.

Landscape
The site of the Pont naturel de Saint-Jean lies northeast of the village of Aigues-Vives; the natural bridge has now collapsed. The Cachoche and Miramont peaks are located in the immediate vicinity of Aigues-Vives. The peaks of les Planelles and Signal d'Alaric are also found in the surrounding area.
Wine and Regional Traditions
During the season, Château l’Amiral offers free, two-hour guided tours of the vineyards and wine cellar on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. The work of the winegrowers is explained during the tour; children are welcome.
By reservation, Château l’Amiral also offers a paid, comprehensive oenology workshop for everyone from beginners to wine enthusiasts, as well as for families and groups.
Château l’Amiral is a winery where seventh-generation winegrowers introduce visitors to the great wines of the Minervois, Marselan, the terroir and the history of the château. The 28th edition of the Foire de la pomme, du vin et du riz in Aigues-Vives featured a large market selling regional produce and handicrafts, as well as entertainment for children and adults.
