History
The site of the former Sanatorium d'Aincourt is located in the Parc naturel régional du Vexin, which was founded in 1995. From 5 October 1940, it was used to intern resistance fighters.
Culture
The historic buildings include the Église Saint-Martin d'Aincourt. For the most part, it is a 16th-century church with a Latin-cross ground plan, a flat-ended choir and a southern chapel in the Flamboyant style. Since 13 November 1939, it has been listed in the Inventaire des Monuments Historiques; visits are possible on request.
The Chapelle Saint-Sauveur is an old chapel that was probably originally the chapel of a leprosarium. Inside it is an unusual stone altarpiece from the late 16th century depicting the Passion in five panels.
Landscape
The Japanese Garden in Aincourt was designed to recreate Japanese landscapes with arrangements of stones, a waterfall, an island and a bridge. In the Lesseville district, the washhouse was restored by the municipality. Until the beginning of the 20th century, there was industrial activity in the forests of Lesseville through the extraction of millstones.
In the Vexin français, there are almost 1,100 kilometres of marked hiking trails. These include the long-distance hiking trails GR 1, GR 2 and GR 11, as well as the regional long-distance hiking trail GRP de la Vallée de l'Epte.
