Culture and history
The Église Saint-Clair was built from sandstone and millstone from the 11th century onwards. It has been listed in the register of historic monuments since 1983. The church also houses a reliquary containing a bone from the skull of Saint Clair.
The building now known as L'Ortie Rouge housed the presbytery until 1921. The sculptor Daniel Simalla restored the building in 1976 and named his house L'Ortie Rouge.
The Viaduc des Fauvettes was built in 1912 on the former Paris–Chartres railway line. Today, it is used, among other things, for walks.
Paths and landscape
The GR de Pays du Hurepoix passes through Gometz-le-Châtel. The Véloscénie, a greenway connecting Paris with Mont-Saint-Michel, also passes through the town.
At La Cour des Orchidées, visitors can explore its tropical greenhouse independently. Thousands of orchids from around the world can be discovered there.
