Le Deschaux marks the beginning of the Bresse Jurassienne. The site of today’s château was once home to a building called the Tour de Lioutre, which served as a hunting meeting place for the Chissey family.

Nature and Hiking
At Faigny Pond, there are tables, benches, barbecue areas and a car park.
Faigny Pond, also known as Février, was made accessible for recreational fishing through work carried out in 2010.
A 10 km hike described as easy leads through the Bresse comtoise and to its ponds. It offers a beautiful view of the large Étang Billedon and begins at the car park opposite the church in Le Deschaux.
The 4 km Val d’Orain route follows the Orain River, the edge of the forest and the meadows, crossing the shallow ford of the Veuge along the way. When the water level is high, it may be necessary to remove your shoes.
On the return journey, the route passes the château grounds and follows a plane-tree-lined avenue back to Le Deschaux.
History and Culture
After 1700, the present-day centre of Le Deschaux developed along the royal road, now the Dole–Lons axis.
The former village dairy now houses the community hall.
At the former village fruitière, the cow’s milk supplied by farmers was processed into Comté, cream, butter and other products.
Events
In 2026, the former association La Fruitière was renamed Desch'o Festif; previously, La Fruitière had organised, among other things, the village flower festival and flea market.
At a brocante organised by La Fruitière at the end of July, the stalls were located on the shaded château avenue and in the Fabulys car park.
