Venteuil: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Venteuil lies on south-facing slopes and is characterized by clay-limestone soils. The Pâtis de Damery Natura 2000 site also encompasses the municipality. Its heathlands are among the best-preserved heathlands in the Montagne de Reims.

Nature

The GR14 long-distance hiking trail crosses the Pâtis de Damery area, or rather the ZNIEFF designated there, from one end to the other. The Ferme d’Harnotay offers a remarkable viewpoint over the Marne Valley. A path leads from the Ferme d’Harnotay towards the Pâtis de Damery Natura 2000 site.

Anyone planning a trip to Venteuil may wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture and history

The Église Sainte-Geneviève is considered to be probably the oldest building in Venteuil. It is built of millstone and is dominated by a massive four-sided bell tower reminiscent of early Romanesque architecture. The church contains a Pietà that has been protected as a historic monument since 1966.

In 1911, Venteuil was the starting point of the Champagne winegrowers’ unrest.
