The Colonne commémorative de Montmirail is a neoclassical monument. It was built in 1866 and inaugurated in 1867, commemorating the battles of February 1814.

History

The Château de Montmirail is a 17th-century building made of brick and stone. It initially belonged to Louvois and later to the de La Rochefoucauld family; Louis XIV stayed there. Group visits are possible year-round upon written request. The tour lasts around two hours.

The Musée d'Histoire de la Tour Carré houses collections on the First French Empire and the four victories of the campaign in the Brie-Champenoise.

Things to do

The “La randonnée des Remparts” circular trail is 4 km long. The former railway line along the circular trail has been converted into a promenade that initially leads through the forest. The trail also follows the traces of a former architectural complex with towers, covered walkways, and defensive and retaining walls.

At Ranch du Moulin Saint Martin, the animals are fed every day at 4 p.m. A guide accompanies visitors along the route and answers their questions. A half-day discovery experience with three activities and a visit to the animal feeding is also offered.
