Culture and History
The Basilique Notre-Dame de l’Épine was built between 1405 and 1527 according to the plan of a cathedral and is a masterpiece of Flamboyant Gothic architecture. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The rood screen of the Basilique Notre-Dame de l’Épine is the only one in the Marne department that has been preserved. Nature
Covering an area of 63.57 hectares, the Savart de la Folie is protected by a prefectural decree safeguarding natural habitats. The Savart de la Folie in the commune of L’Épine is one of the last remaining savarts in Champagne outside the large military camps still in operation.
Paths Around the Town
The Sentier des Croix is an easy, 6.0 km circular walking trail with a stated duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes. The Chemin des Pèlerins leads from the tourist office in Châlons-en-Champagne to L’Épine.
