Fontaine-En-Dormois: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Fontaine-en-Dormois has been documented in the cartulary of Moiremont since 1261. The history of the village ranges from a fortified house in the 15th century, through its replacement by a château in the 18th century, to the acquisition of the château by General Tirlet at the beginning of the 19th century.

Culture

Fontaine-en-Dormois was completely destroyed during the First World War. The parish church of Saint-Rémi was rebuilt in 1923 and 1924 after its destruction during the First World War. The church has a Latin-cross floor plan and a single-nave layout.

In front of the church of Fontaine-en-Dormois is the tomb of Louis Tirlet, a French general and deputy from the period of the Revolution and the First Empire. The town hall and school building is also associated with General Tirlet: it was built in 1863 thanks to a donation from General Tirlet and rebuilt in 1926 after its destruction during the First World War.
