Landscape
The municipality of Arcis-le-Ponsart covers 1,500 hectares of farmland, forests and vineyards. The village also has four springs and an equal number of washhouses. One of these washhouses is hexagonal.
History
The church in Arcis-le-Ponsart has been classified as a historic monument since 18 November 1919. The corner tower of the château is also partially classified as a historic monument; this classification took place on 24 September 1931. The remains of the medieval castle in Arcis-le-Ponsart include a fortified watchtower and several walls.
Monastic Culture
The history of Igny dates back to 1128, when monks from Clairvaux Abbey came there. The present-day monastery of Igny was rebuilt in 1928–1929 and is inhabited by Cistercian nuns from Laval (Mayenne). The relics of Blessed Guerric are kept in the church of the monastery of Igny.

Notre-Dame d’Igny Abbey in Arcis-le-Ponsart can be visited free of charge year-round; the tour includes the church, the monastery grounds, the abbey’s forecourt and two exhibition rooms about the history of Cistercian communities and abbeys.
A former track through the forest leads to Igny Abbey, which lies in a quiet valley. Val d’Igny Abbey organizes a nativity scene exhibition every year. The sisters of Val d’Igny make chocolate and confectionery according to protected recipes.
