Culture and History
A feudal motte from the 11th century once stood on the Butte Saint-Nicolas. Its castle was destroyed in 1573 during the Wars of Religion and rebuilt in the village of Choiseul in the 17th century.
The Église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption de Choiseul is a church in the Flamboyant Gothic style and preserves Romanesque remains of the former priory.
The recently restored Lavoir de Choiseul is located in the centre of the village. It has a bell tower with four clock faces, a bell with a hammer, and a fountain that supplies water to a large livestock trough.
The Château de Nettancourt is a fortified house built in the second half of the 17th century by the Nettancourt-Haussonville family using materials from the demolished old fortress, the Château « d’en haut ». Today, a residential wing, two large square corner towers of the surrounding wall, and a fortified gate at the rear of the property remain. The private site can only be viewed from the outside.
