Culture and history

The Church of Notre-Dame in Montcy-Notre-Dame was rebuilt between 1835 and 1837 according to plans by the architect Labarre from Charleville. It has an unusual, non-aligned layout.

Its elongated floor plan comprises a five-bay nave with three aisles and a semi-projecting bell tower flanked by chapels. The church is covered with slate; the nave and choir have roofs with long roof planes.

Inside the Church of Notre-Dame there is an altar made of pink marble.

The Château des Fées, also known as Château du Waridon, is a medieval fortress. Its ruins are located at the hamlet of Le Waridon in Montcy-Notre-Dame in the Ardennes department; its origins date back to a period between the 9th and 11th centuries.

The Château des Fées stands at an altitude of 175 metres on the natural elevation of Le Waridon, which overlooks the Meuse at the point where the two streams Fontaine and Soiru converge.

The grounds of the Château des Fées are now used as a recreational area; part of the ruins can be reached via a small path.
