Lançon is part of the Natura 2000 area “Confluence des Vallées de l’Aisne et de l’Aire”, site number 209. This area lists the osprey, kingfisher, black and red kites, red-backed shrike, curlew, sand martin, little ringed plover, corncrake and lapwing as notable bird species.
Nature
The ZNIEFF “Prairies hygrophiles de Sénuc et Grandham” includes Lançon as one of its administrative municipalities. 55 species of dragonflies, grasshoppers and butterflies were recorded in this ZNIEFF; six of them are included on Red Lists.
Several historical sites are located in the vicinity of Lançon: the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Chéhéry, the Abbaye des Rosiers and the Abbaye de Lachalade. The Fontaine aux Charmes spring, Mont Cuvelet hill and Côte de Châtillon hill are also located nearby.
In the wider regional surroundings of Lançon are the ancient site of Le Chateau and the hill of Le Paradis.

Culture and history
The church of Lançon is a 13th-century building with an unusual octagonal bell-tower drum and an open lantern above the roof.
The former monastic complex in the Grande-Rue of Lançon had a brick main building with traces of cells and empty statue niches. The choir nuns of Notre-Dame de Nazareth in Lançon were required to establish a manufactory for fine fabrics and Flemish lace. They also had to teach local girls these textile techniques, as well as bleaching fabrics using the Dutch method.
A historic house in Rue de Cornay in Lançon has a carved niche for a statue of the Virgin Mary and a flaming heart as a symbol of the Augustinian order.
