Clavy-Warby: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Château de Clavy-Warby is an L-shaped building surrounding a courtyard. It still has a massive round tower, the gateway of the former drawbridge, and façades with loopholes. The château stands on the site of a former Roman outpost; its present-day gate dates from 1644.

Culture and History

The railway line running through Clavy-Warby opened in 1909. It connected Wasigny with Mézières, served both freight and passenger traffic, and was dismantled in 1955.

The Warby spinning mill operated from 1830 to 1914. Wool from the surrounding flocks was carded there.

Warby's first chapel was built in 1671 in Haute Warbies, amid a hamlet of seven houses on the private property of Marie NOIZET, and dedicated to Saint Claude. After it had fallen into disrepair in 1845, a new chapel was built within 30 days because of population growth.

Events and Nature

The annual “Chapelle des Arts” exhibition is organized by the Calcin de cristal association and the municipality. It takes place at the Chapelle de Warby on July 11 and 12 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., with free admission.

The nature trail in Clavy-Warby, created in 2020–2021, has been restored with more weather-resistant panels.

The Chapelle de Warby is one of the most important venues for cultural events in Clavy-Warby, including art exhibitions and concerts.
