Culture

Cuisine

Cendré d'Olivet is a cow's milk cheese that originated in Loiret and is now produced in Châteauneuf-sur-Loire. Loiret is France's leading producer of asparagus, beetroot and watercress.

Andouille de Jargeau has been produced by sausage makers in Jargeau for almost nine centuries. Pithiviers traditionally comes either as a glazed almond tart or as a puff-pastry version.

The Coteaux du Giennois wine-growing region extends across five municipalities between Gien and Beaulieu-sur-Loire. It has been protected by an AOC designation since 1998.

The vinegar-making tradition of Orléans is linked to a process whose foundations were laid by a royal ordinance of 1580; Maison Martin-Pouret has been producing vinegar in Orléans since 1797.
