Nature

The département offers walking paths and cycling routes through the forests of Perche, the fields of Beauce, and the Eure and Loir valleys. The Parc naturel régional du Perche covers more than 180,000 hectares and includes oak and beech forests, bocage landscapes, wet meadows, hills and valleys.

The Forêt de Senonches features hiking trails, lakes and streams, as well as diverse fauna and flora suitable for hiking and cycling. The Chemin des louvetiers is a flat, low-difficulty route in or alongside the Forêt domaniale de Senonches and is suitable for all visitor groups.

The Promenade des eaux secrètes provides an interpretive route through the Tourbière des Froux, including sphagnum moss, royal fern and dragonflies. Another section of the promenade follows relatively flat roads through a varied landscape along the Eure and the Forêt domaniale de Senonches.

Culture

Chartres Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an important example of Gothic architecture in France and Europe. Château de Châteaudun combines medieval, Gothic and Renaissance architecture and houses a significant collection of tapestries. The château also includes a Gothic Sainte-Chapelle and a medieval garden whose themes are medieval cuisine and medicine.

Château de Maintenon has a reconstructed formal French garden designed in the spirit of Le Nôtre. Its unfinished aqueduct was Vauban's only civil work. Château de Maintenon also bears the Accueil Vélo label for a visitor and leisure facility.

The church of Thiron-Gardais offers explanatory panels and guided tours by reservation. The Abbey of Thiron-Gardais was the mother abbey of the medieval Order of Tiron and can be experienced through themed gardens and a tithe barn. The Musée de l'histoire du Perche offers tours with augmented or virtual reality, temporary exhibitions, family workshops and children's trails.
