The “Entre étang et rivière” route is designated for horse riding, hiking, mountain biking and e-mountain biking. It leads through the bocage landscape of the southern Morvan between ponds and rivers. An official trail route also takes you to the Moulin Condamné, whose pond and waterwheel are clearly visible under a shelter.
A variant of the “En montant à Dône” route leads via Patigny to Mont Dône and is 3 km long. In addition, “Merveilles et nature” offers guided walks and nature activities on routes of 6 to 9 km for discovering the local heritage, fauna, flora and rural heritage. These also include walks of 6 to 7 km in the surrounding area, dedicated to the local heritage, fauna and flora and aimed at families and friends. Culture and History
The present-day Église Saint-Martin was built from 1857 to 1859 and consecrated in 1860 by Monsignor de Marguerie. There is parking for cars at the church; it can be reached by car via a departmental road. A picnic table and an information sign about the hiking trails are located nearby.
The Moulin de Thil in the hamlet of Vauqueune is an old seigneurial mill. It belonged to the monks of the Abbey of Saint-Martin d'Autun, who established a fortified priory in Thil in the 10th century. The Moulin de Thil is privately owned and cannot be visited.
The Château de Thil stands on the site of this fortified priory from the 10th century, with its priory church. The former chapel of the Château de Thil housed a depiction of the Virgin Mary with the Child, associated with a healing ritual at a spring dedicated to Saint Martin.
Places to Visit Locally
The Moulin Condamné is one of the places of interest in Thil-sur-Arroux. It is still in very good condition and could even be operated. The Château de Thil is not visible from the road through the trees in the park; no visit took place.
