In Simandre, the five “Balades vertes” comprise five walking trails between 3.8 and 10 km long; together, they offer 44 km of footpaths for exploring the municipality. The trails pass through various hamlets and offer an opportunity to experience old buildings, the local cultural heritage, and the municipality’s rich fauna and flora.

Culture

The Church of Saint John the Baptist in Simandre was built in the 12th century. Its bell tower and apse have been listed as historic monuments since 27 November 1951.

Nature

La Lande des Bruyères offers walking paths where visitors can discover the local fauna and flora of this site. The municipality of Simandre has developed the site as a place of discovery for tourists, school groups, and walkers. Allow around two hours for the visit; binoculars and sturdy footwear are recommended.

Walks

As part of the discovery trail covering ponds and washhouses, eight ponds were enhanced; they were selected by the Conservatoire des mares because of their appearance, fauna, or flora. The “Du calvaire aux Mares Joly (SI3)” walking route in Simandre is 5.6 km long, is rated easy, and takes one hour. In Simandre, six washhouses have also been completely renovated; they form part of the local discovery offering covering ponds and washhouses.
