History

The hamlet of Ecussoles was the seat of a Cluniac deanery from 936 to 1790. The Colettes manor house dates back to the 12th century.

According to tradition, a Sister Caillot, possibly a nun, had the Grotte de Notre Dame de Lourdes built at the end of the 19th century as a result of a vow made during an epidemic in Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux. At the age of 58, Pierrette Descaillot decided to have the grotto built for the inhabitants of her native village.
