Saint-Léger-Lès-Paray: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture

GRETT was founded in 1984 as the Groupe de Recherche, d’Etude et de Transmission des Traditions du Charolais Brionnais. In its workshops, visitors can learn to work with willow rods, straw, hazel and wool. The traditions passed on by GRETT also include learning traditional melodies and dancing bourrées.

History

The hamlet of La Cure was the historic centre of Saint-Léger and had a church and a cemetery. The oldest surviving parish registers of Saint-Léger date from 1643. Remains of the former church of Saint-Léger are preserved in a residential building. A surviving bell from the church of Saint-Léger was reinstalled in the bell tower of the church in Vigny in 1812.

In a document dated 1386, Robert de l’Espinace, Lord of Saint-Léger, declares that he holds the Maison forte de Santo Lesdegaris of Bernard d’Armagnac, Count of Charollais, as a fief; the entry is associated with the Vieux Château.
