History
The Fonderie Henri-Paul is a point of interest along the Les Berges de l'Étang (SLA1) walking trail. It was built by the Schneider companies from Le Creusot and consists of large halls with glazed roof sections, where up to 1,500 workers were employed.
The Notre-Dame de la Garde statue was erected in 1946 following a vow made by the parish priest of Saint-Laurent. The former railway line between Montchanin and Saint-Gengoux was used for passenger transport from 1889 to 1938, permanently closed and dismantled in 1969; one remnant of the line has been preserved.
