Lans: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Château de Lans is a square building with two turrets and its current design dates from 1850. Structural remains at the Château de Lans show that the site has been inhabited since the Middle Ages, possibly even earlier.

History and culture

The Château de Lans estate came into the possession of the de Non family. One descendant was Dominique-Vivant Denon (1747–1825), Egyptologist and director of the French museums.

A mural initiated by “Patrimoine et Mémoires de Lans” was inaugurated on 18 October in the association’s premises. It depicts local symbols such as the pond, the washhouse, the fountain, a heron, an oak tree, the Château de Lans and the song “J’aime Lans” by Marcel Têtu.

During the restoration of the municipal washhouse, the walls were rebuilt and the roof was put back in place after the tiles had been cleaned.

Near Lans is the Musée Nicéphore Niépce, a museum. The Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Chalon-sur-Saône is a historic site near Lans. Ferté-sur-Grosne is also a historic site near Lans. The Église Saint-Martin is a church near Lans.

Lans is included in the Grand Chalon’s ResaZoom transport service, which operates by reservation.

Nature

The Etang du Coin in Lans was restored by several associations and invites visitors to take walks in nature. Five information boards about fauna and flora have been installed at the pond in Lans.

Fishing at the pond in Lans is available to residents of Lans and their adult children; invited guests can purchase day permits for this purpose.

Traditions

Every year at the end of November, a Beaujolais Nouveau evening is held in Lans together with “Patrimoine et Mémoires de Lans”.
