Fuissé is part of the geographical area of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation in the southern Mâconnais. This area includes Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly, Vergisson and Chaintré; the Pouilly-Fuissé designation of origin was recognised as early as 1936.
When planning a trip, you may wish to rent a holiday apartment in Fuissé between wine tastings at Domaines Auvigue and guided Vinibike tours.
Wine
Domaines Auvigue specialises in producing and marketing white wines from the Mâconnais. In Fuissé, the winery offers cellar tours, vineyard tours and wine tastings. The Luquet depuis 1878 family winery is also located in Fuissé and has a history spanning six generations.
Les Vini Balades takes visitors through the vineyards around Fuissé to enjoy panoramic views and learn about the concept of terroir. The event concludes with an explanation in the cellar and tasting room, a tasting of several wines from a winery in Fuissé, as well as bread and cheese.
Culture
The Church of Saint-Germain in Fuissé was built between 1868 and 1872 in the flamboyant Gothic style and consecrated on 1 September 1872. Its nave is illuminated by eight large, neo-flamboyant window openings with stained-glass windows.
The “Initiation en Mâconnais” experience takes place in a fully renovated 12th-century Romanesque church and includes a sensory workshop. It also includes a 1.5-hour cellar visit with a tasting of four wines and is available by reservation made by telephone or email.
