Damerey: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Damerey combines distinctive cultural monuments with a landscape between the Saône, wet meadows and forests. The Château de Bresse-et-Castille is particularly unique: the building is a work of art brut inspired by Bresse and Spain. Roger Mercier began constructing it in 1984 and continued into the present day. Since 28 March 2017, the Château de Bresse-et-Castille has been listed as a historic monument.

Culture

The Romanesque Church of Saint-Georges is part of the local history. Its apse and part of the walls of the nave have been preserved. In the nave, the church has a semicircular, wood-clad roof structure; the straight chancel bay contains a ribbed vault, while the apse has a domed vault.

The protected landscapes include the “Prairies alluviales”, which are a Natura 2000 site. These floodplains between Damerey and Verdun-sur-le-Doubs include areas at risk of flooding. Seasonal water enables a rich variety of flora and fauna there.

The Saône runs along the western side of Damerey, while numerous forests line the eastern side. As a result, riverside and wooded landscapes meet directly in the village.
