Culture and History
The Romanesque Church of Saint-Quentin in Bray dates from the 11th century and has been listed as a historic monument since 1932. Its 11th-century capitals feature plant decoration and are among the few examples of regional sculpture from this period.
The Chapel of Saint-Jean-du-Bois was built by Cluny and later used temporarily as a hermitage. When the Abbot of Cluny bought back Château Boutavent in 1237, he held the judicial and tithe rights over the lands dependent on Bray.
The Domaine de la Malaise, established by Cluny, is a reminder in Bray of the monks’ former agricultural and viticultural activities.

The “Boucle entre bois et fôret” route is an 18.5-kilometre horse-riding and hiking trail with a stated duration of five hours and 320 metres of elevation gain. It leads to the village of Bray; Pierre de Balancin is a named stop on this route.
