Culture and History

The Château de Corcelle dates back to the 9th century and is flanked by round towers. It is listed as a historic monument. The Château de Corcelle is privately owned and cannot be visited.

Hiking Routes

The Le Col des Enceints hiking route runs along paths beside pastures and through wooded sections. Along the way, there are views of the Château de Corcelle, the Saône Valley, the Valouzin Valley and the hills of Charolais.

The Le Chatelard route allows visitors to discover various facets of Bourgvilain and its hamlets, and offers beautiful views of the Valouzin Valley. The Circuit des bois leads to the hamlets of La Pierre and L'Essardis and reaches the GR 76 via a wooded section.

Market and Local Character

The P'tit marché de Bourgvilain offers local and/or organic products: fruit and vegetables, bread and pizzas, farm-raised chickens, terrines, eggs, artisanally produced cold meats, fresh pasta, honey, sheep's yoghurt, cookies, nougats and honey marshmallows, wine, and craft beer. The weekly market takes place every Thursday from 5 p.m. in the town centre and includes musical performances as well as a market refreshment stand.

Crafts

The Poterie de la Margotte offers pottery workshops for children, teenagers and adults. Activities include modelling, working on the potter's wheel, and Raku firing.
