In Artaix, the Pont-Canal d'Artaix carries the Canal de Roanne à Digoin over the Arçon as an engineering landmark. To this day, it remains an important crossing point for hikers and recreational boaters.

The Église Saint-Julien d'Artaix is a Neo-Gothic church. The present building dates from 1867 and is made of golden-coloured limestone, which is typical of the region. As a distinctive visual landmark, the church is visible from the canal and from the banks of the Loire.

The Lavoir du Canal is a preserved example of Artaix's popular history and is now a stop for walkers heading from the village centre to the canal.

Nature

Artaix is one of the municipalities included in the Natura 2000 Val de Loire bocager area. The Natura 2000 Val de Loire bocager area, to which Artaix belongs, is of remarkable ornithological importance; colonies of little terns and common terns, among others, breed there.

Trails

Circuit 0 – L'essentiel d'Artaix en quelques pas passes through the village. It is a family-friendly and accessible 1.68-kilometre walking route.

Circuit B – Entre Loire et Canal is a 6-kilometre hiking route in Artaix between the Loire and the canal. Circuit C – Du Canal aux 4 Vents is a 7-kilometre hiking route that leads from the canal banks to the Quatre Vents viewpoint.

The Canal de Roanne à Digoin, which runs through Artaix, was built between 1830 and 1836, is 56 kilometres long and has ten locks.

The Halte Nautique du Bassin d'Artaix is a nautical rest stop for visitors on the Canal de Roanne à Digoin. It has toilets, a shower for people with reduced mobility, bicycle repair facilities and bicycle charging stations, a fitness trail, a children's playground, a pétanque court, badminton or beach volleyball courts, a table tennis table, a fishing area, picnic tables and free Wi-Fi.

In summer, the Halle de producteurs at the Halte Nautique gives tourists the opportunity to see local products.
