Antully has at least nine crosses, erected by the inhabitants of the village and hamlets over several centuries as an expression of their faith. Those choosing Antully as a destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture and History
The town’s religious heritage includes the Église Saint-Benoît with its medieval choir. The several-kilometre-long Stations of the Cross in Antully is also suitable for an exploratory walk.
The medieval Grange de Prodhun, now called Ferme de la Chapelle, was dependent on Maizières Abbey in the municipality of Saint-Loup-de-la-Salle. In 1726, the Prodhun area comprised a total of 600 hectares of forest as well as three ponds: La Noue, Le Maupas and La Fallourde.
Another historical trace is the Verrerie de Prodhun, a forest glassworks founded in 1730. It was located in the forests of the municipality of Antully (Saône-et-Loire), on the site of a former barn belonging to Maizières Abbey. The glassworks mainly produced window glass; at the same time, the production of ordinary blown glass is considered likely.
Landscape
Antully is one of the municipalities in which the Forêt domaniale de Planoise state forest is located. The town lies on a plateau that rises to an elevation of 579 m.
The “Forêt de Planoise et Étang du Martinet” route passes through a wooded landscape and highlights two ponds. It runs along the shore of the Étang du Martinet, across its dam, and then to the Réservoir du Haut Rançon.
Hiking and Practical Information
The “Forêt de Planoise et Étang du Martinet” route is an easy, 7.64-kilometre circular hiking trail in Antully. It starts and ends at the car park at the Étang du Martinet.
There is no drinking water along the hiking trail; sturdy footwear and a supply of water are recommended. GPX and KML tracks are available for download for Antully.
During the hunting season from September to February, hunting takes place on the route on Mondays and Thursdays.
