In Vandenesse-en-Auxois, the oldest parts of the Église paroissiale de l'Assomption date from the late 12th or early 13th century. The choir of the church was rebuilt in the second half of the 13th century. Since 3 June 1927, the Église paroissiale de l'Assomption has been listed as a historic monument.

Culture and History
The Port de Vandenesse-en-Auxois also reflects the history of the waterways. The port was expanded in 1833, shortly after the Canal de Bourgogne had become operational along its entire route. It has a rectangular basin on the left bank with a fortified quay, a lock keeper's house and a shed; upstream, it is bordered by the bridge at Lock 08.
In the vicinity of Vandenesse-en-Auxois lies Châteauneuf Castle, a castle listed as a historic site. The Abbaye Notre-Dame de la Bussière, a monastery, is also located nearby.

Lac de Panthier is an ornithological nature reserve where numerous bird species nest. At the Base nautique du lac de Panthier, sailing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are offered with or without supervision.

A 25 km cycling stage from Pouilly-en-Auxois to La Bussière-sur-Ouche runs through the Ouche Valley via a series of locks to the small port of Vandenesse. The entire route follows a cycle path.
