Terrefondrée: holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Terrefondrée, the Douix rises at the foot of a rocky cliff in a rocky basin. The route to the Douix initially follows the meadows; after 1,300 metres, a path branches off and leads down into the valley floor. The source of the Douix and the Groème stream provide a habitat for populations of white-clawed crayfish.

Culture

The Croix du hameau de Châtellenot is protected by classification under a decree dated 24 December 1924. The Église Notre Dame de la Nativité is a Romanesque church from the 12th century and is classified as a historic monument; its porch dates from the 14th century.

The Chapelle Saint-Cyr in Châtellenot is a Gothic chapel from the 16th century with a small slate onion dome. The chapel contains carved figures on the bases of the arches, as well as a stone statue of John the Baptist from the 16th century.

Next to the Chapelle Saint-Louis are a long stone watering trough and a washhouse. The Chapelle Saint-Louis in Laforêt dates from the 18th century, was remodelled in the 19th century and has an onion-domed tower.

History

The Château-Beau prehistoric settlement is surrounded by a circular wall with a diameter of 500 metres. An access staircase was built on the southeastern side of the prehistoric settlement.
