Ruffey-Lès-Echirey: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A notable landmark in Ruffey-lès-Echirey is the Church of Saint Gregory. It was built between 1844 and 1847 by Jean-Baptiste Fénéon-Damotte in the Neo-Gothic style. Its stained-glass windows tell the story of the village’s religious history and traditions. Above the high altar is a fresco that is a copy of Francesco Sacchi’s “Doctors of the Church”.

Culture and History

The two lavoirs are among the town’s historic sites. The Lavoir d’Echirey is fed by a spring that emerges from the ground 50 metres upstream. Next to the lavoir is a Gothic niche bearing the inscription 1608. The Lavoir du Basmont has five arches and dates from 1864; it is fed by the waters of the Basmont stream of the same name.

The Mare du Fontenis is also one of the preserved traces of the area’s history. It is said to have been created in 1756 at the request of the Seigneur de Berbisey and was used for roasting hemp.

Several historic sites with different characteristics can be found around Ruffey-lès-Echirey: the Château de Vantoux is a château, while the Palais des ducs de Bourgogne is a palace. The Monastere Saint-Bernard Fontaine-les-Dijon and the Château de Dijon are historic sites.
