Molinot: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Château de Molinot, including its grounds, buildings and pond, was listed as a historic monument by decree of 11 October 1990; the dovecote tower was classified by decree of 14 June 1994. Only the foundations remain of the feudal Château de Molinot dating from the 14th century. The tower of the Château de Molinot dating from the 14th century was converted into a dovecote in its upper section in the 17th century.

Culture

The church of Molinot has a round-arched portal with a stepped reveal and partly engaged columns, as well as an oculus and round-arched twin windows. Near the church is a 17th-century post relay station with an elaborately designed portal and an adjoining stable.

The recently restored dovecote of the Château de Molinot can be visited or viewed from the outside. Molinot also has a restored former passenger and freight station. The surviving local cultural heritage also includes a historic bread oven and an old weighing scale with a brick shelter. The cemetery of Molinot preserves the portal of a former chapel that has since disappeared.

Landscape

Molinot lies at the confluence of the Petite Drée and Vernée streams, in a location somewhat sunken by their valleys amid a strongly agricultural landscape. Molinot’s narrow, winding road network offers views of the buildings, particularly of the church from the higher-lying areas.

The forests around Molinot are suitable for an outing in nature. In the forests southeast of Molinot, traces of former extraction activity can still be seen at the site of Les Plâtrières.

History

West of Molinot stands the former Moulin Du Dessous next to a former railway keeper’s house. On the opposite side of the village is the former Sansvigne mill. Molinot has several former railway keeper’s houses associated with the Épinac-les-Mines–Dijon railway line.
