Laignes: holiday apartments and holiday homes
The Church of Saint-Didier-de-Langres in Laignes combines construction phases from different centuries: the nave and aisles date from the second half of the 12th century. The choir and transept were rebuilt at the beginning of the 16th century.
Culture
The Maison-Dieu in Laignes was founded in 1295 by Marguerite of Burgundy. Only the chapel of the Maison-Dieu has survived. This chapel was remodelled at the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century and can be seen from the outside.
The former hospital in Laignes preserves a large part of its original interior fittings. These include eclectic wood panelling and a painted ceiling with geometric friezes.
Laignes is home to the first washhouse, located on Rue Derrière les Moulins.
The establishment was renamed Café des Chiens in 1895. Around the middle of the 19th century, Augustin Husson, a sculptor and woodturner, created the remarkable wooden façade of the Café des Chiens.
Several historic sites are located around Laignes: the historic site of Abbaye de Jully-les-Nonnains, the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Molesme monastery, and the ruins of Abbaye du Puits d'Orbe. In the wider region surrounding Laignes are Château d'Ancy-le-Franc and Parc de Buffon.
Nature
The Laigne re-emerges in the centre of Laignes after flowing underground for more than 20 kilometres. The Mont Lassois hill is also located near Laignes.
