Belz: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Ria d'Étel borders Belz to the north and west and is an area of oyster farming and shellfish gathering at low tide. The Pont Lorois is the only crossing between the two shores of the ria and between Auray and Lorient.

Culture and History

The Grotte de Port-Niscop is an oratory dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. Sailors built it for their comrades who died at sea.

The island hamlet of Saint-Cado, which is part of the municipality of Belz, is connected to the mainland by a stone bridge. Saint-Cado offers a beautiful viewpoint over the Ria d'Étel. The chapel there is Romanesque, has a 16th-century portal and is open to the public every day.

The Dolmen du Moulin des Oies also combines history and landscape: the Neolithic passage grave has a circular burial chamber. Today, it is surrounded by seawater flowing into the Ria d'Étel and illustrates the rise in sea level since the Neolithic period.

Ria and Viewpoints

At the Pointe du Perche, there is a panoramic view, an orientation table and opportunities for birdwatching. The ria also shapes the route of Le Tro-Belz: the path runs along the ria, through woodland and heathland; dolmens and chapels line the route.

Paths Between Land and Sea

The Pointe de Larmor walking route from Port Niscop is an easy, 5 km yellow-marked circular trail with a duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes, which can be walked year-round. It runs along the Rivière d'Étel and then along the shores of the Sac'h, a tributary and sea inlet of the Ria d'Étel.

The Etré Douar ha Mor circular route – between land and sea – focuses on the famous village of Saint-Cado, the Ria d'Étel and the megalithic structures.
