The Église Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul was a Benedictine priory founded in the 7th century by monks from an abbey in Bangor; a church was built in the 11th century.
During the season, Bangor’s weekly Sunday market offers local art, local handicrafts and second-hand books.
Getting around
Numerous cycling routes start in Bangor and lead through the island’s villages and hamlets away from heavy traffic. Bangor also offers hikes, short circular routes on foot or by bike, trail routes and access to hidden beaches.
Nature
The hike through the Vallon du Stang Per is located in Bangor, is 3.7 kilometres long, moderately difficult and designated as a three-hour circular route. The trail passes a washhouse and a small bridge and features rich vegetation including heather, gorse, chestnut trees, willows, heathland, marshland and dunes.
The Aiguilles de Port Coton are a starting point for hikes. On Belle-Île, they are home to a rare and protected ecosystem and are designated as an Espace Naturel Sensible (ENS).

In the immediate vicinity of Bangor are Jeanne Menhir and Jean Menhir, both ancient sites; the Citadelle de Belle-Île-en-Mer, a castle; Gouastin, a ruin site; Grotte Kornéor, a cave; and the beaches of Plage du Dotchot, Plage de Port-Donnant and Plage de Bordardoué.
