Paths and nature

The 27 km network of paths in Pommeret is reserved for hikers and mountain bikers. Three circular routes form a cloverleaf and lead along shady paths, through forests and beside rivers.

Near Pommeret lies the Anse de la baie d'Yffiniac, less than 5 km away. It serves as a resting place for migratory birds.

The route “Pommeret - Quand chapelle et manoirs nous content l'histoire...” is classified as easy for hiking, mountain biking and horse riding. It begins at 1 Rue du Clos de la Forge, 22120 Pommeret.

Buildings and religious heritage

The Église Saint-Pierre, Pommeret's parish church, was built in 1894 on the site of the former parish church. Its main altar features an 18th-century reredos. The Manoir du Frêche-Clos is attached to Pommeret's parish church, the Église Saint-Pierre, and dates from the 17th century.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-la-Rivière was built on the site of an older chapel dating from the 14th century and founded in the 17th century by the lords of the neighbouring Château de Cargouët. The chapel houses a remarkable polychrome wooden statue of Saint Peter. The reredos of its main altar features a central painting of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, as well as statues of Saint Charles Borromeo and the Virgin and Child, known as Notre-Dame de la Rivière. A Pardon pilgrimage is celebrated there every year on 15 August.

Local identity

The production of cider, also known as “pilerie”, contributed to Pommeret's reputation until the 1950s.
