La Meaugon: holiday apartments and holiday homes

La Méaugon combines architectural heritage with paths along the water. Between the church, viaduct, reservoir and lake, the village creates a landscape that closely brings together history and movement.

Culture and history

The church of La Méaugon was built between the 16th and 18th centuries and includes the Saint-Blaise Chapel. Inside, there are finely carved altars.

The Viaduc de La Méaugon was built between 1860 and 1862 for the Compagnie des chemins de fer de l'Ouest. It has two rows of arches, with 12 upper arches and 8 lower arches. An additional footbridge allows pedestrians to cross from one bank to the other.

Nature and trails

The Circuit du barrage starts at the church of La Méaugon. After setting off from the church, it follows the reservoir, crosses the Saint-Barthélémy Dam and is 7.1 kilometres long. The stated duration is 1 hour 50 minutes.

Lac Saint-Barthélémy covers 81 hectares. A path runs along the lake, alternating between woodland and the edges of fields. Fishing is now practised at Lac Saint-Barthélémy.

Further circular walks

The Sente des Douets et des Fontagnes is 9.6 kilometres long and has a 3.5-kilometre variant. The circular walk leads to renovated fountains and washhouses. The Circuit de la Vallée de la Salle runs along the banks of the Ruisseau de la Salle.
