History and Museums
The former La Poudrière powder magazine within Navarrenx’s fortified complex was built in 1580. It houses an exhibition about how it worked, its function and its significance within a fortified Renaissance town.
The Navarrenx Interpretation Centre presents the history of the fortified town with models, mannequins, armour and maps. The Musée Milou displays tools from traditional occupations such as clog-making, cooking, farming, goldsmithing, carpentry and industry.

Trails and Nature
Navarrenx lies on the route from Le Puy-en-Velay to Santiago de Compostela. A Terra Aventura treasure hunt is entitled “La Carapate de la Tortue”. The circular trail “Entre Pierre et Gave” is intended to help visitors discover Navarrenx’s cultural heritage and includes a nature stay on Île Charron.
In Navarrenx’s forests, heathlands and wetlands, woodland walks for mushroom picking are described in autumn, along with refreshing walks in summer. Navarrenx offers an impressive view of the Pyrenees.
Water and Crafts
Numerous anglers fish for salmon on the Gave d'Oloron near Navarrenx. Rafting, canoeing and stand-up paddling are mentioned as options for visitors on the Gave and in the region around Navarrenx.
At the arts and crafts fair in Navarrenx over the Easter weekend, visitors can try basket weaving, blacksmithing or pottery.
