In Ciboure, the CIAP Les Récollets – Errekoletoak provides fundamental insights into the history of the Bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure, with a particular focus on its maritime heritage. Open to everyone, the facility offers a playfully designed exhibition tour and allows visitors to explore a historic complex from the 17th century spanning more than 1,000 m² in the heart of the harbour.

Culture
Fort de Socoa was built from 1627 onwards and remodelled by Vauban. It was intended to protect the harbour of Socoa and the Bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. The fort can only be viewed from the outside.
Maison Estebania was built around 1630 and is named after its first owner, Esteban d’Etcheto, a merchant and shipowner. On the occasion of Louis XIV’s wedding on 9 June 1660, the house accommodated Cardinal Mazarin in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Maison Estebania is considered the only house in the Dutch style in the region.
Cuisine
Egiategia offers three visit and tasting formats exclusively by reservation. The Egiategia cellar is located in the former blockhouse of the harbour of Socoa.
The visits introduce the history of underwater wine production. This is considered a technically unique innovation worldwide and was conceived and tested by Emmanuel Poirmeur in the Bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz/Ciboure.
