History
The Château de Sauveterre was built shortly before 1289 as one of the fortified structures erected by King Edward I to defend northern Agenais against Périgord and Quercy. It was rebuilt in the 15th and 16th centuries, retains most of its medieval features and has a ditch carved into the rock on its eastern side measuring approximately 20 metres.
The Church of Saint-Barthélemy has a Romanesque section from the 11th century, attached to a modern nave.
