History and Culture
The protohistoric site of Treize Pouys is partly located in Pouydesseaux. It comprises around forty burial mounds from the Early Iron Age, dating to the 7th century BC, and was listed as a historic monument by decree of 9 September 1997.
The original construction of Sainte-Catherine Church dates from the late 12th or early 13th century. The old apse with corbels is preserved from the original church. The first church in Pouydesseaux, which according to historical sources was dedicated to Saint John the Baptist or Saint Catherine, stood along a secondary route to Santiago de Compostela.
