Those considering Peyrehorade as a holiday destination may wish to find a holiday apartment there.

History and Culture

During the feudal period, the Château d’Aspremont was the residence of all the viscounts of Orthe. Only the ruins of a keep remain of the Château d’Aspremont; the remains include the motte of the first keep and part of the second keep.

The Château d’Orthe was built on the banks of the Gaves in the 15th century.

Water and Paths

The Quai du Roc is located on the banks of the Gaves Réunis. From there, visitors can enjoy a view of the Château d’Orthe.

The Promenade de la Pêcherie runs along the Gaves Réunis in Peyrehorade. It was laid out on a former towpath, is used for walking, and leads as far as the port of Peyrehorade.

Leisure

The Piscine de plein air à Peyrehorade has two heated outdoor pools at 27 °C and includes a water-play area for younger children. The swimming instructors offer swimming lessons there for beginners, children, adults, and people with disabilities.

Culinary Delights

Since 1929, Maison Barthouil has used traditional methods to produce salmon: dry salting, slow smoking over alder wood, and natural maturation.

La Maison du Saumon offers guided museum visits at 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday; these visits end with a tasting.
