History
The site of Gamarde-les-Bains contains traces of Neolithic settlements and remains of a Roman camp. The first bathhouse in Gamarde-les-Bains was completed in 1841 and supplied by the historic Buccuron spring.

Culture and meeting places
The Eglise Saint-Pierre, also known as Saint Pierre du Rau, was rebuilt and inaugurated in 1881. Its choir windows depict the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Saint Catherine and Saint Peter. At the entrance there is a small war memorial chapel, which serves as the burial place of Abbé Bordes.
The La Navette hand-weaving workshop in Gamarde-les-Bains can be visited by appointment and offers introductory courses. Café des Sources is a community café that opened at the end of 2025 and also welcomes non-residents. It is located at 104 route du Marensin in Gamarde-les-Bains.
Nature and activities
Etang de Gamarde covers 1.41 hectares and is fed by the Louts, a river in the second fishing category. A fishing licence is required for fishing at Etang de Gamarde. The species mentioned there are pike, European perch, pike-perch, black bass, rainbow trout and brown trout.
A 3.4-kilometre section of the Voie verte de Chalosse leads from Aire de Gamarde-les-Bains towards Montfort-en-Chalosse.
Events
The Fêtes patronales of Gamarde-les-Bains take place every year on the first weekend of July. They include a traditional communal country meal on Saturday evening. The first weekend of March is scheduled for the Fête du printemps; the Fête des vendanges takes place on the second Sunday in October.
