Gabarret: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the center of Gabarret stands the Maison du Gabardan, a medieval house dating from 1456, built with half-timbering and terracotta tiles. The present-day building of the Église Saint-Luperc was constructed between 1856 and 1864; materials from the medieval tower may have been reused, particularly from its vaulted portal.

Culture

The Maison du Gabardan is one of the few local monuments to have survived the Wars of Religion. Today, it serves as a showcase for local food and crafts, an exhibition venue, and the location of a tourist office.

The Arènes de Gabarret host both Spanish bullfights and the Course landaise. On Sunday mornings from 10 a.m., the Arènes can be visited free of charge. Trotting races were announced at the Hippodrome de Gabarret for July 28, 2025.

Nature and Trails

The circular trail “Gabarret – Circuit d'Escalans” is 11.9 kilometers long and can be used on foot or by mountain bike. The route “A Gabarret, nature et patrimoine” is a 15.6-kilometer circular route starting from Gabarret, with an average duration of 4 hours and 30 minutes. It passes through the heritage of the Gabardan region, along a former railway line converted into a Greenway, and through diverse landscapes.

Gabarret is also the starting point of the Voie verte du Marsan et de l’Armagnac, which leads to Mont-de-Marsan and to access to the Scandibérique in the Landes.

Water

The Lac de Jouandet is suitable for family walks along the lakeshore. Fishing at Lac de Jouandet is regulated.
