Duhort-Bachen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Culture and History
The Château du Lau was rebuilt in the mid-15th century in the style of architecture influenced by Flemish design, on the site of a medieval Castelnau. As a private estate, it is open to visitors free of charge; at the same time, part of it is listed as a historic monument and another part is classified as a historic monument.
The Château de Bachen stands on an old castle site and was completely rebuilt in the second half of the 18th century. Its residential building, with its high roof, bears similarities to Béarn architecture. The estate is partly listed as a historic monument and is open to visitors during Heritage Days.
The Église de Duhort was built around 1330, when the bastide was founded. Its porch was rebuilt in 1769; its furnishings come from the Abbey of Saint Jean de la Castelle.
A mass is held once a year in July at the Chapelle de Bachen in honour of Saint Mary Magdalene, the patron saint of Bachen.
