Audignon: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

From the 13th century onwards, Audignon developed into an important stop for pilgrims. The town’s historical landmarks include the Château de Captan and the Eglise Notre-Dame d’Audignon.

Culture and history

The Château de Captan is a 19th-century château; its outbuildings and well are protected as historic monuments. At the end of the 19th century, the Château de Captan was completely rebuilt on the remains of an older building. It is privately owned and cannot be visited.

The apse of the Eglise Notre-Dame d’Audignon is entirely Romanesque. The church also contains a painted stone altarpiece in the English Gothic style.

The Arènes d’Audignon are a rectangular arena for Course Landaise. They were recently rebuilt and are decorated on the barriers with a white circle on a red background.

Nature and townscape

The present-day town centre of Audignon lies in a bend of the Laudon. The forest at Moulin Neuf in Audignon includes a wetland. There are walking paths along the canals.

Vehicles have no access to the forest at Moulin Neuf; the forest is also privately owned.
