Culture
The Château d'Amou is a private historic monument dating from the 17th century. It was built in 1678 according to plans by Mansart and has remained in the possession of the same family since its construction, passed down through the direct line. At the entrance to the château, there is also a Gallo-Roman mosaic from the 4th century.
The Church of Saint Peter has a Romanesque apse and a 15th-century bell-tower porch. Visitors can obtain a guide to the church from the tourist office.
Landes races are held every year at the Arènes Jean Lafittau. The arena is listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments and was built in 1954 with the help of volunteers.
Landscape
The Luy de Béarn flows through Amou. The town can be explored on a walk through flower-lined streets with old houses and carved roof overhangs. Fishing is possible in the Luy de Béarn in Amou.
In July and August, self-guided canoe trips are available for hire on the Luy itself; a reservation by telephone or at the tourist office counter in Amou is required. The Circuit du ruisseau des Landes d'Andriaou offers an exploration of the agricultural plain of the Luy de Béarn.
